My name is David Yuill, Head of Teaching and Learning at East Allington Primary School and Foundation Stage, and I would like to welcome you to our website.

East Allington is a small, working village set in the rural South Hams area of South Devon. Surrounded by lovely countryside and within a short drive from the towns of Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Totnes, East Allington is a thriving community which works hard to support its popular village school.

Our school has approximately 90 children from 2-11 years old and nearly 15 members of staff. We provide a safe, exciting learning environment so that we can get the best from all children. We have developed strong links within our Federation, with other local primary schools and Kingsbridge Community College. We strive to provide a variety of experiences both in and out of the classroom in order to engage and excite everyone.

We aim to:

To provide the best for each child
To get the best from each child

Ancient Greek - the arty bits!

Ancient Greek DT, art and music.

Class 3 absolutely loved our topic from last term! So much so, we decided to share some of our work with you!

The children have created some beautiful artwork, based on Ancient Greek fish plates which can be seen below. They used images which they sourced from the internet to help them design their plates. After they designed their plates. they careful drew over the top in black waterproof pen, before paining in watercolour.

March in the Foundation Stage

March 2012

We have been reading lots of Julia Donaldson books as part of our topic this term. At the beginning of March we enjoyed a trip to the library in Kingsbridge. The librarian read several books to us by our favourite author and then showed us around the library. We were surprised to find a coffee machine, computers, DVDs, glasses for sale and a listening area alongside all the usual books. Our families and the staff in the Foundation Stage read us some books before Mrs Partridge showed us how to take out a book.

Easter Fun in Class One!

Easter Fun Day

The weather was absolutely glorious for our Easter Fun Day on Thursday 29th March.  The morning started with a letter from the Easter Bunny asking us to help him. He had lost 50 Easter baskets in our school grounds and we had to help him find them all.  We  worked together as a team and quickly found 48 …….. although it wasn’t until 2.50pm  that ‘Observant Ollie’ and ‘Look-Out Lucy’ found the last two!! Mrs Lamont and Mrs Haddy helped us to decorate our Easter baskets and we all got to take one home.
